Our Objectives
Share expertise, experience, and a love of gardening.
Protect our native trees, plants, and birds and help them thrive.
Encourage planting in civic areas and home gardens.

The Evergreen Garden Club held its first meeting on December 12, 1956 and Capt. Walter Scott was elected club president. The club was federated on February 13,1957.
Since then, the garden club has established and maintained gardens throughout Deer Isle and Stonington. Each year we raise funds by holding a Plant Sale, selling plants we dig up from our own gardens, and organizing a Garden Tour, giving island gardeners a chance to see what other nature lovers are doing in their gardens.
We welcome new members of all ages and areas of interest, from rose gardens to organic farms. If you love watching things grow and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you're just the kind of person we want in the Evergreen Garden Club.
In June of 1976, the Garden Club Federation of Maine, Inc. presented the Evergreen Garden Club with an award for "Preservation of beauty in recognition of restoration work" carried out in Mariner's Memorial Park.
